What is Creativity

Creativity is the energy of life that flows through all of us, which is the essence of creativity. People are creative by nature, we all long to create.

Many of us dream about painting, singing, acting, writing, etc. But don't consider ourselves "the creative type". I hear so often "I wish I could take your workshop, but I can only draw stick men"...they have allowed criticism to shut down their desire for expression.

When children play, they are always guided by a pure creative desire. Then, conditioning starts to obscure their creativity. Expectations of work done perfectly according to the rules and principles of our traditions in drawing and painting can inhibit true creative expression.

The joy of drawing and painting is a creative birthright for every individual. Being creative is not limited to a few. We have to  break the Myth that Creativity is only for the Artistic Established Elite. 

The key to creativity is to have clarity of mind body and spirit. You have to be unafraid of taking risks. To achive clarity you only need to be in awe of the mystery of the life force that shapes our life, and be willing to open to it. This is creating from spirit. 

Vincent Van Gogh once wrote about creativity to his brother, in a letter: "It is a feeling of love andd enthusiasm for something, and in a direct, simple, passionate and true way you try to show this beauty in things to others-by painting". So we can assume then that creativity comes from deep emotion and is about following your passion. Ignoring your passion is like dying a slow death. 

So...if you are alive, creative expression is much closer than you think!

Creativity and Healing

Being creative not only expresses our inner elemental forces, but it can balance them, revealing our deep powers of integration and healing.

By the simple rhythm of drawing or painting, interacting with color, moving paint with the brush, you can awaken the wisdom of the body.

The regenerative, balancing effect of the creative expression is necessary for our survival.

Whether you are familiar with the visual language or just starting, you will stir up the passion to create, awakening all the hidden potential  in you.
